Second Forum: Implementation of Corporate Governance in Jordan – July 2019

Building on the momentum of the first forum, the Fund convened the second forum for representatives of the Social Security Corporation serving on boards of directors and management bodies of companies in which the Corporation holds shares, in the presence of the Chairman of the Fund and the Director General of the Social Security Corporation.

The forum addressed legislative developments and the evolving regulatory role of authorities responsible for issuing governance-related regulations and overseeing their implementation, in addition to legal accountability and compliance requirements.

Participants also explored mechanisms for implementing governance systems in both public and private shareholding companies, the role of boards in setting strategies and business plans, and the importance of ensuring the existence of robust regulatory, financial, and administrative systems, as well as risk management frameworks.

The discussions further highlighted the importance of governance policies in preventing conflicts of interest, and the role of board committees in strengthening institutional performance and reinforcing sound governance principles.
