Strategic Plan Document

Forward by SSIU Chairman

The main goal for which Pension Funds were created was to provide current and future benefits for their subscribers, through establishing prudent investment management rules for the fund’s assets, to ensure the maintenance of the true value of its assets and their growth. This necessitates that the people in charge of managing the pension funds manage their assets within a controlled and long-term investment strategy that ensures the distribution of these assets among the available investment tools pursuant to the adopted investment policies and controls. This is in order to achieve the long-term targeted rates of return – specified through actuarial studies – in a manner that enables them to fulfill their current and future liabilities without subjecting them to investment risks that may threaten the achievement of its goals.

The Social Security Investment Unit (SSIU), to ensure success in the management of the investments of the Social Security Corporation (SSC), adopted strategic planning as a methodology and foundation, and worked, through this document, to employ all factors of success, strengths, and financial and human resources within the framework of strategic planning in service of the strategic goals for which SSIU was formed, and to achieve the vision and mission of SSIU.

Based on these principles drawn from the best practices in the management of Pension Funds, the strategic plan of SSIU of SSC was developed for the next five years, providing all elements of control and continued assessment of the achievements.
