Introducing SSIF

The Social Security Investment Fund ( previously known as Social Security Investment Unit) was established in 2002 to manage the investments of Social Security Corporation (SSC) in a manner ensuring the increase of its financial resources. The Fund started its actual operations in early 2003 after the investment strategies governing its functions were endorsed.

With the issuance of the Social Security Act of 2010 , The Social Security Fund was the established  as of 1/4/2010 to replace the Social Security Investment Unit . The Fund has an administrative independence and shall invest Social Security funds.

 

The Board of the Investment Fund comprises nine members headed by the Board Chairman, the membership of the SSC Director General and two members, one representing the employees and the other representing the employers, nominated by Social Security Corporation Board from among its members, in addition to five members of expertise and efficiency appointed by the Council of Ministers.

                 

The Fund aims at managing the investments of SSC in a manner ensuring the increase of its financial resources within the following strategic directions:

 

  • Maintaining the real value of the assets and origins of SSC by achieving profitable and regular returns.

  • Reducing the risks by allocating SSC investments to different investment tools.

  • Providing the needed liquidity to meet SSC liabilities.
